COMPETENCY BASED SECONDARY TEACHER EDUCATION PROGRAMME: A STUDY ON CONGLOMERATE ANALYSIS FOR CORE TEACHING COMPETENCY By Dr.N.Sasikumar

Abstract

This study is aimed to conglomerate analyze the core teaching competency for secondary teacher education programme.   Teaching competency includes teaching behaviour and teaching skills. Teaching behaviours can be linked with knowledge of the subject matter and its presentation. The teacher acquires that knowledge through his continuous efforts and learns presentation during their training which determines his effectiveness. In India after independence the educational setup had changed a lot.  There was a tremendous change in higher education.  They formed many committees to review the quality of teacher education. In this study reviewed and analyzed the various committee reports and recommendations of after independence. All the committees suggested recommendations covering the different aspects of pre-service teacher competence such as Content competency, Contextual competency, Conceptual competency, Transactional competency, Management competency, and Evaluation and assessment competency.
