Lokanadha Reddy"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Stress and strain have become pervading features of peoples\u2019 life in modern world. Despite tremendous advancements in science and technology, and remarkable\u00a0 growth of economy and sources of luxury, majority of being experiencing moderate to high degree of psychological stress in various spheres of their lives. In the present day world majority of people may be seen talking about the term, yet, significantly few people use the term in the same way or even attempt for a clear-cut definition of the term stress. The word stress is derived from the Latin word Stringere which means\u2019 to be drawn tight\u2019. The term was used to refer to hardship, strain, adversity or affliction. The physiologist, Walter Cannon (1914), in his work on homeostasis had used the term stress to describe emotional states that had possible detrimental physical impact on the focal organism. Dunbar (1947) had described the term stress as quality of stimulus while some others defined it as the quality of both stimulus and the response. Wolff (1950) described it as a state of human organism. Basowitz et al.
