However, conditions continue to vary sharply among individual subsectors of the industry. Some sectors are experiencing rapid top line growth due in part to surging commodity prices, although profits have not always kept pace with these revenue increases. Wholesale distribution of building materials remains far below the levels from just a few years ago.
