A Study of views of language teachers on the need of Digital fluency for Language Teaching By Dr. Rajashree Milind Joshi

Abstract

Twenty first century is the beacon of Artificial Intelligence Era. Digital transformation in many areas is the mile stone of the era. Mobile learning, social learning, micro learning, virtual Classroom are the different types of learning emerge due to the Digital Transformation.  The content transformation needs some language which represents the social identity of a group. Even in the digital age language of communication, literature will remain in its place. The Language skills, grammar of the language, beauty of the poem or text and discussion on it challenges the digital transformation and its tools.  It observes that Language teachers are reluctant to take help of different aspects of Digital Transformation. The present study is to test the above observation and study the views of language teachers on the need of adaptation of digital skills like navigate, evaluate or utilize technologies and resources effectively and confidently. The paper will focus on the view of language teacher in need, challenges and strategies to develop fluency in using digital platforms and devices. The questionnaire of five options will be distributed among language teachers of Thane district. The result will focus on the opinion of teachers about language teaching in digital age. It will suggest some strategies to reduce the challenges. The study will be useful to advice language teacher its role in digital education. The study will defiantly reflect on the opportunity and strength of language teacher in digital transformation in education field as well as future trends in Education.
