Digital Transformation in Engineering Colleges By D. Vijaya Lakshmi, K. Swaroop, K. Soma Chinna Sekhar

Abstract

The shift to digital learning has catalyzed significant changes in the Higher Education sector especially in engineering colleges. The global need for remote learning exposed the inadequacies of not fully digitized education system, prompting a rapid transformation. Traditional in-person classes were replaced by online video broadcasting using tools like Zoom, Microsoft Teams, Cisco WebEx, and Go To Meeting. This transition redefined the roles of educators and led to the adoption of smart classrooms, making education more accessible and interactive. Digital innovation enhances the quality and relevance of learning, strengthen inclusion and improve educational opportunities. This study explores the historical context of teaching and learning, the implementation of various digital tools to enhance student engagement and assessment, discusses the future implications and research perspectives of online learning in higher education.
