DIFFERENT SHADES OF BROTHER IN THE GREAT RAMAYANA By Babita Kandpal

Abstract

Humans are called social animal, what distinguish humans from animal is being social or part of a society. A society is group people who are connected and these connections are called relationships. There are different forms of human relationships and brotherhood is one of the most beautiful relationships. This study is an attempt to understand brotherhood as per Indian Epic the Great Ramayana. Ramayana a story of triumph of good over evil is primarily known as story of god Rama. Ramayana also has many characters especially in role of brothers. A comparative study of different characters of Ramayana accentuates importance of brotherhood in epic era. This study also emphasize on relevance of an ideal brother’s role and qualities in modern period.
