Abstract
“We cannot afford to create a lost generation of children deprived of their chance for an education that might lift them out of poverty.” – Irina Bokova
One of the most significant indicators of social progress is education, which also plays a decisive role for a society to achieve self-sustainable and equal development. With an increasing global realization of how business community can (and should) contribute to social objectives, education deserves a higher level of corporate involvement than status quo. Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) is a form of corporate self-regulation integrated into a business model. CSR policy functions as a self-regulatory mechanism whereby a business monitors and ensures its active compliance with the spirit of the law, ethical standards and national or international norms. This paper explains reasons for which turning corporate social responsibility into tangible supports in education is complex and challenging, from both the social perspective and a corporate managerial perspective.
Key words: Education, Corporate social responsibility, Society.
