Blending Inclusive Education with Arts Education By Ms. Mamta Anil Patil

Abstract

“Every student can learn, just not on the same day, or in the same way. – John Evans

The goal of inclusive education (IE) is to educate children with disabilities and learning challenges with normal students under one roof. It aims to meet every child’s educational requirements, with a special emphasis on those who are most at risk of marginalization and exclusion. It suggests that all students—disabled or not—can learn alongside one another by having access to shared early childhood programs, schools, and community learning environments, together with a suitable support system. Children learning together in the same classroom, utilizing resources suitable for their different needs, and taking part in the same lessons and recreational activities is only possible in flexible education through inclusive education.

Inclusion requires active student participation. Students who are totally involved are prepared to learn on all levels—intellectually, socially, physically, and emotionally. Through visual arts activities, interactive learning can help students gain a more tactile and visible grasp of who they are and the world around them. All students’ engagement and quality of life in and out of the classroom can be enhanced by including arts education into the inclusive classroom. A variety of activities in the visual arts, music, theatre, dance, and literature are included in arts education. These exercises assist the child in making sense of the environment, in asking questions, speculating, and solving problems, in managing emotions, and in reacting to creative experiences.

A well-thought-out arts education in a welcoming classroom can positively impact a student’s life and is extremely beneficial for encouraging creativity, ability, and flexibility. Activities in the arts can serve as a focal point for students’ enjoyment and social and cultural development in the classroom. Arts education is essential to inclusive education because it supports all learners in developing thinking, imagination, and sensitivity.
