A COMPARATIVE STUDY ON INTENSITY OF INTIMACY, PASSION AND COMMITMENT IN ROMANTIC RELATIONSHIP BASED ON GENDER By Boban Eranimos and Surya Thankappan

Abstract

The present study investigates the intensity of intimacy, passion and commitment in romantic relationship based on gender. The total sample consisted of 50 subjects, which include 25 males and 25 females. The descriptive survey method was used for the present study. Purposive sampling method was used for sample selection. Sternberg’s Triangular Love Scale (STLS) were used for assessing the intensity of intimacy, passion and commitment among people who are in romantic love. Results revealed that male subjects have significantly higher level of passion than female subjects. There were no significant differences found between two groups with respect to the intimacy and commitment components of love and romantic relationship.
