Abstract
School environment as well as family environment plays a significant role in developing various characteristics and bringing attitudinal change among adolescents. The present investigation was undertaken to study the scientific attitude of senior secondary school students in relation to their school environment, gender and family type. The study was conducted on 400 senior secondary school students of Mandi and Kangra districts of Himachal Pradesh which were selected through systematic sampling technique. The data were analyzed with the help of mean, S. D. and ‘Two Way ANOVA (3 X 2 factorial design)’. The results of the study revealed that majority of sampled students have scientific attitude of below average level. Further, it was found that school environment affects the scientific attitude of senior secondary school students in a positive and significant manner. On the other hand, there were no significant gender-wise and family-wise differences in scientific attitude of selected students. Further, none of the interactional effects were proved to be significant. In the last, implications of the findings have been discussed.
